BBC World · 2 hours ago

At least 27 people were killed and dozens injured in an overnight Russian drone strike on the Kyiv region, according to Ukrainian officials. The attack, which hit the Bucha district, prompted hundreds of evacuations and renewed calls from President Volodymyr Zelensky for international support to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences and sanctions against Russia.

Governor Tymur Tkachenko said 42 people, including four children, were injured and 381 residents evacuated, while rescue teams continued inspecting damaged buildings. He later reported that a 14-year-old was killed in a separate strike in Boryspil; Ukraine said it downed 233 Russian drones overnight, amid intensified cross-border attacks by both sides.
