Audible’s ‘Harry Potter’ Full-Cast Audiobooks Conjure Over 5M Sales
Audible has revealed that its Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions have sold more than 5 million copies since the series launched last November, with all seven books now released. The Amazon-owned platform's star-studded reimagining of J.K. Rowling's novels, featuring cutting-edge spatial audio, has proved a significant commercial success, achieving in nine months what other major Audible titles took years to reach, underlining sustained public appetite for the Harry Potter franchise ahead of the forthcoming HBO series.
The announcement was timed to coincide with "Back To Hogwarts Day" on 1 September. The sales figure includes both individual purchases and Audible members redeeming credits, since the titles sit outside the standard subscription catalogue. For comparison, sci-fi bestseller Project Hail Mary sold 3 million copies over five years despite a Hollywood film boosting its profile. The full-cast editions run to 130 hours across the seven books, involving 200 actors voicing over 500 characters, with a lineup including Hugh Laurie, Matthew Macfadyen, Riz Ahmed, Kit Harington and Keira Knightley, alongside two rotating young casts playing Harry, Ron and Hermione.
