A 56-year-old Australian man and his two young children have been found dead in a villa in Kuta, Bali, in what police are treating as a suspected murder-suicide. Damien John Shaw, from Fremantle in Western Australia, was discovered alongside his six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter after concerned staff and neighbours broke into the bungalow when the family failed to respond to checks. The case has shocked the local community and prompted a formal police investigation into the circumstances of the deaths.

The alarm was raised after Shaw's wife, who had travelled to Jakarta four days earlier, phoned him and reportedly heard one of the children crying and her daughter saying "Stop, Daddy." She then contacted the bungalow's manager, and staff and neighbours forced entry, finding all three bodies in a bedroom at around 10.14am local time on Sunday. Bali Regional Police say the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
