Ava DuVernay's documentary "14th" will premiere globally on Netflix on 4 December, following a limited theatrical release in select US and UK cinemas from 27 November. The film serves as a follow-up to her acclaimed 2016 documentary "13th", which examined racial injustice in the American prison system, and will have its world premiere as the closing night film at the New York Film Festival on 9 October at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.

"14th" focuses on the US Constitution's 14th Amendment, which guarantees due process, and explores the ongoing battle over who is considered to belong in America. DuVernay conducted more than 50 expert interviews for the film, featuring a politically diverse array of voices including Democratic and Republican politicians such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Anna Paulina Luna, legal scholars, historians and commentators ranging from Stacey Abrams to conservative author Donald T. Critchlow and cultural critic Hasan Piker.
