‘Avatar Aang’ Team Reveals More Spinoffs in the Works, Nearly Making Katara Pregnant and Why Fans Shouldn’t Watch the ‘Dark Web’ Leak

The cast and creators of "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender" discussed the film's rocky path to release, plans for further spinoffs, and the online leak that hit the movie earlier this year, in comments made around its Comic-Con premiere. The film, which continues Nickelodeon's animated saga between "The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra," began streaming on Paramount+ and opened in select cinemas after repeated delays and a scrapped original theatrical release plan.

Creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who formed Avatar Studios in 2021, said further films and a new series set in a different era of the Avatar universe are in development, though future movies depend on how this one performs. The film reunites adult versions of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko, alongside Dave Bautista as a newly discovered airbender, and had leaked online in April after a 26-year-old man was arrested in Singapore for illegally accessing a media server; cast members urged fans not to watch the unauthorised version out of respect for the creators' work. A second sequel series, "Avatar: Seven Havens," is set to premiere on Paramount+ on 9 October.
