## Key points

- ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has reportedly sold $16 million in advance tickets.
- Disney opened bookings five months before release.
- The film faces same-day competition from ‘Dune: Part Three’.

## Summary

Disney has reportedly generated $16 million in advance ticket sales for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ after opening bookings five months before its release, an unusually early move for a major film. The strong initial demand suggests continued audience interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe despite mixed reaction to its first trailer and several recent commercial disappointments.

The film will open on the same day as ‘Dune: Part Three’, which has secured IMAX screens for three weeks, leaving ‘Doomsday’ to rely on other premium formats. Disney is also promoting “Infinity Vision”, a label for cinemas meeting specified technical standards rather than a new viewing format, as it seeks to position the release as a major theatrical event.
