Ayaneo shrank down the Game Boy form factor with its latest $89 handheld
Ayaneo’s Konkr sub-brand has opened preorders for the Pocket Block, a compact, Game Boy-inspired handheld aimed at retro gaming. It starts at $89, with a current preorder price of $79, and is due to begin shipping by the end of October.
The device has a 3.3-inch, 960 × 720 screen in a 4:3 aspect ratio and a MediaTek Helio G85 chip, which Ayaneo says is suited to PlayStation and Nintendo 64 games but may struggle with PlayStation 2 and GameCube titles. The $89 model has 2GB of memory and 32GB of storage and comes in grey; a 3GB/64GB version starts at $99 and also comes in purple and white. It includes a headphone jack, microSD slot, USB-C, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; Ayaneo has yet to explain the AI features it previously promised.
