Baby fighting for life in Western Australia after allegedly being shaken so hard it suffered critical head injuries
An 11-month-old baby is fighting for life in Western Australia after allegedly being shaken so violently that it suffered critical head injuries. Emergency services were called to a home in Two Rocks, north of Perth, last Thursday morning and found the infant in a critical condition. Police allege that a male relative was responsible for shaking the baby, causing the life-threatening injuries.
The baby was taken first to Joondalup Health Campus and then transferred to Perth Children's Hospital, where it remains critically ill. The man was charged with a serious offence on Friday and appeared in court the same day, where he was remanded in custody. He was subsequently granted bail during a hearing at Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
