Baby girl, 1, dies after suffering a cardiac arrest: Man and woman are arrested on suspicion of child neglect
A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a one-year-old girl died following a cardiac arrest in Atherstone, Warwickshire. Emergency services were called to a home on Long Street on Friday morning, but despite efforts by paramedics and police to save her, the child was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting a criminal investigation by Warwickshire Police.
Officers were called at around 11.50am on 11 September after reports of a one-year-old girl in cardiac arrest. Both arrested individuals remain in police custody, and a partial road closure and heavy emergency services presence remain in place on Long Street while detectives investigate. Police have thanked local residents for their patience and said officers will remain in the area for those affected by the incident.
