Back of the NetApp: Latest exec signing scores $34M compensation package
NetApp appointed Chief Product Officer Syam Nair to a compensation package worth $34.27 million in fiscal 2026, despite joining in July, making him the highest-paid executive ahead of CEO George Kurian. The bulk of Nair's remuneration came from a $30.68 million stock award that NetApp designated as a "make-whole" payment for equity he relinquished when leaving Zscaler, supplemented by a $5 million signing bonus spread across two years with claw-back provisions.
The company's robust financial performance provided justification for elevated executive compensation across the board. NetApp generated $6.93 billion in revenue with a 5.4 percent year-on-year increase, whilst operating income climbed 25 percent to $1.67 billion, fuelled by heightened demand for AI-ready storage infrastructure. The company logged over 1,100 AI and data preparation deals during the period, with the stock price appreciating roughly 60 percent, and shareholders gave their seal of approval to the compensation structure through a 94 percent affirmative vote on the advisory pay resolution.
