Bad Wolves have been hit by two separate crises within days, with new singer Sara "Killboy" Skinner claiming she was forced off the band's tour with Skillet after fans dug into rumours about her gender identity and an OnlyFans account, and guitarist AJ Rebollo quitting over the band's handling of a Dolly Parton cover. Skinner had only joined the LA metal band a few months ago, replacing D.L. Laskiewicz, and the tour was meant to be her live debut with the group; Skillet have since replaced Bad Wolves on the tour with Canadian act Autumn Kings.

Rebollo's departure stemmed from a dispute with label Better Noise over releasing a cover of "Jolene" featuring Dolly Parton herself, which he alleged the label pushed out despite the band's objections just days after Parton's death, calling it exploitative. Better Noise maintained the track was recorded months earlier in collaboration with Parton's team, with proceeds going to her Imagination Library charity. The upheaval follows previous line-up changes, including the amicable exits of co-founder Doc Coyle and bassist Kyle Konkiel last year.
