Los Angeles metal band Bad Wolves has lost its guitarist and been dropped from a support tour within days, following disputes over the group's direction and its singer's identity. Guitarist AJ Rebollo quit after label Better Noise Music pushed ahead with releasing a cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" against the band's wishes, saying he could no longer endorse decisions being made for the band by the label. Days earlier, singer Sara "Killboy" Skinner revealed the band had been pulled from a tour with Christian metal act Skillet after fans speculated online about her gender identity and past adult-content work.

Rebollo said the band feared the Parton cover, originally intended to feature Parton herself, would look like it was capitalising on her death, though he welcomed the label's pledge to donate proceeds to her literacy charity, the Imagination Library, while still questioning its motives. Skinner, who joined Bad Wolves in June, said in a social media video that Skillet's team had asked her not to comment on the tour removal, and she confirmed one of the online rumours about her while denying the other. Skillet has not addressed the matter publicly but announced on Friday that Canadian band Autumn Kings had been added to its autumn 2026 tour.
