Bad Wolves have released a metal cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," a track that stirred controversy even before its release. The band had originally hoped to feature Parton herself on the song, but her death on 25 August 2026 changed those plans; when the group announced the release regardless, guitarist AJ Rebollo quit, accusing the record label of exploiting Parton's death for commercial gain.

Despite Rebollo's objections, Parton's estate has endorsed the release, with her long-time manager Danny Nozell saying she heard the arrangement weeks before her death, approved it enthusiastically, and had wanted to collaborate on it. The version features new Bad Wolves vocalist Sara "Killboy" Skinner delivering largely clean vocals over heavy riffs, with occasional screams, and proceeds from the track will go to Parton's Imagination Library charity.
