## Key points

- HBO’s *Baldur’s Gate* series will follow the events of *Baldur’s Gate 3*.
- Craig Mazin will write and run the series.
- Its story will make one game ending canon.

## Summary

HBO is developing a television series called *Baldur’s Gate*, led by *The Last of Us* co-creator Craig Mazin. It will continue the story after *Baldur’s Gate 3*, extending the game’s world even though its developer, Larian Studios, is not making the series and is working on a different project.

The show will include new characters and familiar faces, but casting and specific character details have not been announced. Former Dungeons & Dragons creative head Chris Perkins will advise the production, while Mazin serves as co-creator, writer and showrunner. The series will need to settle on one of the game’s multiple endings as its canonical starting point, a choice that could divide fans.
