Indonesian immigration authorities have banned two Dutch nationals from Bali after they organised an illegal running event linked to an expatriate group accused of discriminating against local residents. The run, held by Entourage Bali, sparked outrage after claims spread online that the club had rejected Indonesian applicants while readily accepting foreigners, reigniting tensions between locals and the growing digital nomad community on the island.

The two men, aged 35 and 37, had already left Bali for Singapore before the ban was announced and will not be permitted to re-enter Indonesia. Authorities said they had breached immigration rules by holding the event without the required permits, with immigration chief Hendarsam Marantoko describing the club as operating like a "state within a state". Entourage Bali denied deliberate discrimination, saying Indonesians made up nearly a quarter of ticket holders and blaming "errors in the automated approval process" for wrongly rejecting some local applicants; it has since paused all events and promised changes. Bali's governor, I Wayan Koster, has vowed "strict action" to prevent similar incidents recurring.
