Lawrence Dallaglio is selling his 2003 Rugby World Cup winner’s medal as he deals with bankruptcy following his divorce and reported excessive spending. The former England captain was part of the team that beat Australia 20–17 in extra time in the 2003 final, a major moment in English rugby.

The sale, scheduled for 13 October, includes other international and club medals, caps and awards, with the collection expected to raise £180,000. The World Cup medal is estimated at £50,000–£80,000; other items include his 2007 World Cup runners-up medal, valued at £10,000, and his 2003 Six Nations medal, valued at £5,000. His bankruptcy followed the £2.4 million sale of the family home, and he was ordered to hand over his share of the proceeds towards an overdrawn directors’ loan exceeding £366,500.
