A barman who won a £3.5million clifftop mansion in Cornwall through an Omaze prize draw has put the property up for sale after just one summer, planning to use the proceeds to retire early and fund his own bar or restaurant. Darren Summers, 50, won the four-bedroom home in south-east Cornwall in June after spending £20 on a raffle entry, learning the news while working a shift at his pub in South Wales. He and his wife are the latest in a string of Omaze winners to sell their prize homes rather than keep them, often citing the costs and practicalities of maintaining such properties.

The mortgage-free house, set above Downderry Beach, also came with £250,000 in cash and features four bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, a heated pool and a hot tub. Summers and his wife Rebecca, 36, an NHS healthcare assistant, plan to bank the sale proceeds, buy a smaller coastal home in Britain and a holiday property in Europe, and use some of the money to invest in a bar of his own, possibly named "Bar Omaze".
