## Key points

- DCU Batman casting is expected soon, but no actor has been chosen.
- Gunn says Batman will be roughly the same age as Superman.
- The role may favour acting ability over movie-star status.

## Summary

James Gunn says casting for the DC Universe’s Batman is not far off, but the role has not yet been filled. The character will appear in “The Brave and the Bold”, a separate project from Robert Pattinson’s Batman films, and Gunn says he wants to choose the strongest actor for the part rather than prioritise celebrity status.

Gunn said Batman and Superman will be roughly the same age and contemporaries, with age a consideration because the actor may play the role for years. David Corenswet, who plays Superman, is 33, suggesting the new Batman could be in his mid-30s. Corenswet is due to return in “Man of Tomorrow”, scheduled for 9 July next summer.
