Neil Henderson, an original guitarist and songwriter with the Bay City Rollers, has died aged 73 after being ill for some time and recovering from a stroke. His former band Middle of the Road announced his death, offering condolences to his daughters, Heather and Shona, and remembering his contribution to music.

Henderson was with the Bay City Rollers from 1970 to 1972 and played on their 1971 breakthrough hit, ‘Keep On Dancing’, before leaving ahead of the band’s international success. His daughter Shona said he became frustrated with the group’s musical direction; he later joined Middle of the Road and established a recording studio near his home in Scotland.
