Fox is producing a reboot of the classic lifeguard drama Baywatch, with a 12-episode series set to premiere in January 2027 and filming under way in Venice Beach and at the Fox studio lot in Century City. The original ran for 11 seasons from 1989 and launched or featured stars such as David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra and Jason Momoa, so the revival draws on considerable nostalgia while introducing a new generation of characters. Matt Nix serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside McG, who will also direct the opening episode.

The cast mixes newcomers with returning faces from the original show. Stephen Amell leads as Hobie Buchannon, son of Hasselhoff's Mitch, with series regulars including Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell and Thaddeus LaGrone playing lifeguards and associated characters. Among the four returning original cast members, David Chokachi reprises Cody Madison — now running the unofficial Baywatch bar-and-grill, The Shoreline — and Erika Eleniak, who originally played Shauni McClain, is also heading back to the beach.
