Bear hugs aplenty as brothers are united for the first time!

Daily Mail · 2 hours ago

Two polar bear brothers born at the Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland have met for the first time, delighting keepers with a boisterous reunion of playfighting, wrestling and a swim together in a lake. The pair, Brodie and Hamish, had never previously crossed paths because Hamish moved away before Brodie was born, making their encounter a rare and heart-warming moment for staff.

Hamish left the Highland Wildlife Park near Kincraig, Inverness-shire, for Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster in 2020, a year before Brodie was born, and Hamish was notably the first polar bear cub born in the UK for 25 years. The brothers were brought together after Brodie was sent to Doncaster on a temporary "holiday" while his enclosure is rebuilt. Keeper Bex Brown said it was unclear whether the bears recognised their kinship, but noted similarities between them, adding that each took turns being dominant and that staff would miss Brodie when he returns home.
