Beaumont to retire from international cricket

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

England batter Tammy Beaumont has announced that she will retire from international cricket after England's one-off Test against India, which begins on Friday. The 35-year-old, who debuted in 2009, ends a near 17-year international career and will bow out at the first-ever women's Test to be held at Lord's, a fitting stage for one of the leading figures of England's women's game.

Beaumont leaves as a record-holder, with her 12 ODI hundreds an England women's best, and she is one of only two English women, alongside Heather Knight, to score centuries in all three formats. Among the first players to receive a central contract in 2014, she was named player of the tournament in England's 2017 home World Cup win and became the first English woman to make a Test double-century, scoring 208 against Australia in the 2023 Ashes. Having lost her place across formats in recent years, she will continue playing domestic cricket for The Blaze and Birmingham Phoenix.
