Ben Folds Five will mark the 30th anniversary of its 1995 debut album with a box set released on 4 September, including the original record and an early shelved version. The release revisits the group’s alt-rock beginnings and precedes further discussion of its past break-ups, reunions and possible future touring plans.

Folds says the band re-recorded its debut in five days for $3,000 after rejecting an initial production attempt, with Robert Sledge and Darren Jessee completing the trio. He is currently producing and serving as musical director for Lindsey Kraft’s one-woman musical, We’ve Been Here Before, following earlier work on animation and Peanuts projects.
