Comic book series "Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees" is entering its final story arc, with creator Patrick Horvath and publisher IDW revealing the title and cover art at a San Diego Comic-Con panel. The closing six-issue chapter, titled "The Summer and the Fall", will debut in February 2027, bringing to an end a franchise that began modestly in 2024 but has since won Eisner nominations and a Harvey Award, spawning a spinoff, an art book and merchandise.

The series follows Samantha Strong, a brown bear who runs a hardware store while secretly being a serial killer, with each volume jumping forward a decade; the finale is set in 2004 and finds an ageing Strong living off-grid in the desert as a forgotten former fugitive. Horvath said the story's success exceeded his expectations, and the two completed volumes have together sold more than 400,000 copies, a strong figure for an original title from an independent publisher. IDW is also releasing a painted-art Artist's Edition on 28 July and a Halloween anthology special featuring contributors James Tynion IV and Tony Fleecs in October.
