‘Best bend I’ve ever run’ – Hunt’s strong season continues in Brussels

BBC Sport · 5 hours ago

Amy Hunt continued her strong late-season form by finishing third in the women's 200m at the Diamond League final in Brussels, clocking a season's best of 22.16 seconds. The result extends an upward trend for the British sprinter, who has now improved on her fifth and sixth-place finishes in the previous two years' finals, and comes on the back of four gold medals at the European Championships in Birmingham last month.

Hunt was beaten by St Lucia's Julien Alfred, the year's fastest woman over the distance, who won in 21.79 seconds, with American Kayla White taking second in 22.00. Hunt described it as one of the best bends she has ever run, though she felt the effects of a long season in the closing stages. She is set to race the 100m in Brussels alongside Sha'Carri Richardson and plans to double up again at the inaugural Ultimate Championships in Budapest from 11 September, crediting her demanding winter training for enabling the packed schedule.
