## Key points

- An arcade claw machine was stuck in Android recovery.
- Its screen asked for removable storage.
- The joystick may be the only way to navigate.

## Summary

A claw machine in an arcade beside a roller rink was found showing Android’s recovery console instead of inviting players to try to win a toy. The failure turns a familiar game of chance into a display of a device that cannot boot, and raises the prospect that someone might need to intervene to get it working again.

Reader Scott spotted the machine, whose screen showed Android “release-keys” and a request for removable storage. Its usual recovery menu was obscured by the screen’s dimensions, while the joystick appeared to be the only way to interact with it; the article notes that claw machines can vary their grip strength and are regulated as gambling devices in some places.
