## Key points

- Bezzecchi won in Qatar from start to finish.
- Marquez’s title bid continues in Portugal.
- He leads Martin by 60 points.

## Summary

Marco Bezzecchi’s Qatar Grand Prix win leaves Marc Marquez waiting to clinch the MotoGP title, with the championship now set to continue to the penultimate round in Portugal. Marquez finished second and Jorge Martin came seventh, so the result did not meet the conditions Marquez needed to secure the crown.

Marquez leads Martin by 60 points before the race at Portimao, while Bezzecchi is 74 points behind Marquez. Bezzecchi led from start to finish and became the first rider to win 12 races at 12 different circuits; Raul Fernandez was third. Pedro Acosta, who had challenged for a podium, dropped back to sixth after tyre pressure problems.
