The reconciliation marks an end to a feud that began in 2021, when Sean alleged West owed him $6 million and West publicly disparaged their former working relationship, and it comes despite the turmoil that has surrounded West's career in recent years.

The pair had fallen out in 2021 after Sean's since-deleted claim on X that West owed him money, while West called signing Sean to his G.O.O.D. Music label "the worst thing I've ever done" and made further disparaging remarks about him. Tensions persisted even after their split, with a West fan allegedly leaking much of Sean's unreleased album online in 2024. At the Chicago show, the two performed their collaborations "Clique" and "Mercy" alongside guest 2 Chainz, with Sean telling the crowd he loved West, who replied in kind; other guests at the concert included Twista and Future.
