## Key points

- Maher mocked Republicans after Democratic gains in red states.
- Texas was among the states cited as flipping.
- Alaska’s Senate race was still being counted.

## Summary

Bill Maher used his latest monologue to mock Republicans after Democrats made gains in several traditionally Republican states, including a reported victory in the Texas Senate race. The results matter because they signal a striking shift in places long considered safe for the GOP, while Maher also highlighted President Trump’s acceptance of the outcome.

Maher named Texas, South Carolina, Kansas and Mississippi, and joked that Alaska’s race was still being counted. The article says former representative Mary Peltola was leading two candidates named Dan Sullivan in Alaska; in Ohio, Sherrod Brown won the Senate race and Amy Acton the governor’s race. Maher also criticised what he called Republican efforts to undermine voting, while praising the democratic process.
