## Key points

- BioWare petition passes the threshold for a Commons presentation.
- It has 1,662 verified Canadian signatures.
- Supporters seek funding for an independent studio.

## Summary

The petition calling for Canada’s government to help restore BioWare has passed the 500-signature threshold for presentation to the House of Commons, making an official response likely. Its supporters say the studio’s closure is a loss to Canada’s cultural legacy and want public funding to help it become independent of Electronic Arts.

The petition has 1,662 verified signatures from Canadian citizens. It also urges the government to protect Canadian businesses and cultural institutions from foreign corporate influence, citing BioWare’s games and the values they represent; the article says a government-backed revival appears unlikely, while other forms of recognition may be more achievable.
