Bloc Party get “hit by a very big love” on buoyant new single ‘Pigwig’
Bloc Party have released a new single, 'Pigwig', the fourth track shared from their forthcoming seventh studio album, 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance', due out on 11 September via Contagious Music. Frontman Kele Okereke has described the buoyant, indie-rock track as one of the sweetest songs on the record, explaining that "Pigwig" was a pet name for his former partner, inspired by a Beatrix Potter character, and that the song recalls a romantic seaside memory from their relationship.
The single follows earlier previews 'Coming On Strong', 'Love Bombs' and 'Now We Can't Be Friends', and arrives with a vintage-style official video directed by Laura Perrett showing the band performing live. The 14-track album, produced by Trevor Horn, is structured as a heartbreak-themed memoir and features some of Okereke's most personal songwriting. Bloc Party have also added extra dates to their UK record store tour next month and will later join Interpol for a co-headline UK and European tour, having recently supported Muse in North America.
