Blondshell captures complexities of growing up on stirring new single ‘Fur Elise’

NME · 2 hours ago

Blondshell (Sabrina Teitelbaum) has released a new single, "Fur Elise", the closing track from her forthcoming third studio album "Violins", due out on 25 September via Partisan Records. The song explores the complexities of growing up, taking its title from the classical piano piece and evoking the overwhelming feeling of walking down the aisle at a wedding without knowing what you truly want, reflecting broader themes on the album such as troubled friendships, religion, the body and healing.

"Fur Elise" follows two previously released tracks from the record, "Heart Has To Work So Hard" and the title track "Violins", and continues Blondshell's signature blend of loud and quiet song structures. Teitelbaum has described the new record as sonically heavier and less literal in its lyricism than her previous work, crediting a more confident songwriting approach and an efficient collaboration with producer Yves Rothman. She will support the album with a tour across North America, the UK and Europe later this year, including her biggest London headline show to date at the Roundhouse on 15 December.
