Blondshell’s new album, *Violins*, explores femininity, friendship, the female body and the difficulty of finding emotional truth within patriarchal structures. Sabrina Teitelbaum says the record reflects her growing ability to observe experiences with greater distance, producing a more complex and emotionally varied work than her earlier albums.

The 11-track album was written during quiet periods on an extensive tour and combines ’90s-influenced guitar rock with slower songs, despite Teitelbaum initially intending to avoid ballads. Tracks such as ‘New Shape’ and ‘New Age Trojan Horse’ examine shifting identities, conflicting perspectives and performative masculinity, while emphasising that truth is subjective and discovered through the process of writing.
