Ukrainian prosecutors have announced the arrest of two men — a military intelligence officer and a former law enforcement officer — as suspects in the killing of Anastasiia Berezovska, a Ukrainian woman wanted over a parcel bomb attack in Monaco. Berezovska, 39, had been the prime suspect in the bombing that injured multi-millionaire Vadym Ermolaev, and was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice before being found dead near Kyiv. The case is significant because investigators now suspect the two arrested men were not merely her killers but may themselves have been connected to the original Monaco attack.

According to prosecutors, the former officer and the intelligence agent had allegedly been transferring money to Berezovska's bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets, which led investigators to treat them as potentially involved in the attempted murder in Monaco. During a search of the former law enforcement officer's home, Ukraine's security service (SBU) said it discovered a basement resembling a "torture chamber", with footage showing an underground space strewn with weapons including axes and hammers. Berezovska, a German speaker, had allegedly fled Monaco via Italy and Germany before reaching Kyiv, and faced Monegasque charges of attempted murder, planting an explosive device in a public place and criminal conspiracy.
