San Francisco 49ers owner and chief executive Jed York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, after police said he responded to an undercover online advertisement and arranged sexual activity in exchange for $140. Body-camera footage released to the Daily Mail shows York initially telling officers he was “just driving” and denying that he was meeting anyone; the case matters because of his prominent position in American sport and ownership interests in Leeds United and Rangers.

York, 46, was arrested on 23 August and released on a $5,000 bond. Court records say the original prostitution allegation was reduced to disorderly conduct; he pleaded no contest, received credit for one day already served, was fined $1,150, and completed an online course. Police found $160 in cash in his rental vehicle, which was forfeited under the plea agreement, while a separate charge concerned a mobile phone allegedly used to arrange the offence.
