‘Bon Jovi’s lawyers came after me – now I’m chasing the charts with my own music’
Andy Hearn, a Sheffield-based performer who led the tribute band One Jovi, is finally releasing original music under the stage name Mr One Jovi following a legal dispute over his previous moniker. His return to songwriting came after decades of performing covers, driven by personal tragedy when his bandmate friend died during the pandemic, combined with encouragement from his wife and a stint on ITV's Starstruck talent competition. Though producers initially favoured his audition, he was later dropped from televised rounds, citing his appearance as too mature relative to other contestants.
His debut releases include 'Holiday Girl', a summer anthem inspired by a romantic getaway with his wife after their children left home, and 'Some Respect', which reflects his frustrations navigating the competitive tribute act circuit. Several of these compositions have sat in a safe for over two decades as lyrics before finally being composed into full tracks. Hearn describes his work as classic rock infused with blues and country elements, with promotion assistance from his teenage granddaughter on social media platforms.
