UK producer and DJ Simon Green, better known as Bonobo, has shared two new tracks — "Fire On The Water", a collaboration with singer Arooj Aftab, and the club instrumental "Drift" — ahead of his forthcoming album Distance In Static. The record, which also features Nilüfer Yanya, Nicole Miglis and Aftab, follows the previously released lead single "Me And You" and marks a significant new project for the veteran Ninja Tune artist.

Much of the album was recorded at Neil Young's Broken Arrow Ranch studio, where "Fire On The Water" took shape after Aftab overheard Bonobo testing the studio inputs with an acoustic guitar loop. Aftab sings in Urdu, with lyrics drawn from poetry by her friend Yasra Rizvi, and both artists described the session as a turning point that revealed the album's direction. The song is paired with a video by director Thomas Vanz, and Distance In Static is due for release on 11 September via Ninja Tune.
