Up to 30 migrants landed on Samphire Beach near Dover in Kent on Tuesday without being intercepted by Border Force, with 21 subsequently detained and processed by the Home Office. This represents the second uncontrolled landing in as many days, following an incident the previous day when up to seven migrants reached another Kent location undetected. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has ordered an urgent review of the breaches, which have drawn criticism from opposition figures and raised concerns about border security.

The beach landing, which occurred shortly before noon, is believed to be the largest uncontrolled arrival since August 2021, when 26 migrants reached Ramsgate. Eyewitnesses reported seeing up to 30 people disembark and move up the shingle beach towards Folkestone, with some covering their faces. The incident coincided with a record 38-hour crossing by 51 migrants from Normandy still in progress, and came on the same day a defence minister stated that UK borders were secure. The breaches also occurred amid other concerning developments, including the discovery of a deceased migrant in France and the investigation of an anti-migrant activist accused of sabotaging a dinghy.
