## Key points

- Three Romanians were arrested near Oceanside on 9 October.
- US authorities say all three had links to a Balkan crime group.
- One had a Virginia warrant; the men were transferred to ICE.

## Summary

US Border Patrol arrested three Romanian nationals on Interstate 5 near Oceanside, California, on 9 October, saying all were linked to a Balkan organised-crime group. The arrests matter because authorities allege one man had an outstanding warrant and the group was connected to a theft case in Los Angeles.

Customs and Border Protection said the men had entered the US from Canada between 2024 and 2025, outside official crossing points. One had a Virginia warrant over alleged illicit credit-card use, and investigators linked the group to the alleged theft of a Rolex from a Los Angeles YMCA locker room in August. Their names have not been released; they were transferred to ICE custody for removal proceedings.
