A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 17-year-old was fatally stabbed outside Brent Civic Centre near Wembley Stadium, north-west London. The attack, which happened on Tuesday, prompted the evacuation of the council building and has caused significant alarm in the local community, with police stressing there is no wider public risk.

The victim has not been formally identified but is believed to be David Wynter, 17; his next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday and remains in police custody. The Metropolitan Police have authorised a Section 60 stop-and-search order covering several Brent wards, running from 3pm until 3.30am on Thursday 27 August, and are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101, quoting reference 4032/25AUG. Brent Council leader Muhammed Butt said the Civic Centre will stay closed until further notice.
