Two men have been arrested after a four-year-old boy died in a crash between an off-road bike and a car in Newark, Nottinghamshire. The boy, who was a passenger on the off-road bike, was pronounced dead at the scene on Churchill Drive following the collision, which happened at around 6pm the previous evening. The incident is being treated seriously by police, whose investigation continues, and the family is being supported by specialist liaison officers.

A 24-year-old man riding the same off-road bike was seriously injured and taken to hospital, and has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving; a second man, 32, was arrested on the same suspicion the following day. Nottinghamshire Police said the bike had been travelling alongside a second off-road bike, whose rider fled the scene before officers arrived. Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam, mobile phone, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
