Brandon Flowers has named "Crossfire," his 2010 solo debut single, as the track he thinks could have become a major Killers song had it been released under the band's name. The Killers frontman made the comment during a fan Q&A discussing how he balances his solo work with the band, offering a rare insight into how he distinguishes material written for himself from songs intended for the group. The remark comes as Flowers promotes his new solo album, giving fans a glimpse of his creative decision-making process.

"Crossfire," later featured on Flowers' debut solo album "Flamingo," peaked at Number Eight in the UK, making it his highest-charting solo song to date, and he said he "slightly regrets" not saving it for The Killers while still being proud it exists. He is currently playing the song on his North American tour supporting his third solo record, "Thrasher," released via Island at the end of August, ahead of UK and Ireland shows this autumn including London's Royal Albert Hall on 15 October. Flowers also gave an update on a potential new Killers album, saying nothing is "in the can" yet but that the full band has been meeting periodically in Salt Lake City to write and record demos with producers Ariel Rechtshaid and Shawn Rado.
