Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive will get an epic adaptation next year
Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive is set to receive a board game adaptation, with "Stormlight: War for Roshar" launching on Kickstarter this autumn ahead of an expected release next year. The asymmetric strategy game, designed by John D. Clair, lets players control key characters from the series, including Dalinar, Kaladin, Raboniel and Taravangian, as they wage war between the Knights Radiant and Odium's forces. It arrives alongside other planned adaptations of Sanderson's work, including a Mistborn film and a Stormlight Archive TV series under his wider Apple deal.
The game, published by Brotherwise Games, can be played one-on-one, in teams of two, or three against one, with matches lasting eight rounds shaped by the alternating Everstorm and Highstorm weather events. Players will balance upgrading leaders, deploying units, recruiting allies and battling for territory, including control of the Oathgates, while pursuing secondary objectives. Brotherwise aims for a level of strategic depth comparable to Star Wars: Rebellion or War of the Ring, and the Kickstarter will offer the base game, deluxe components, a Champions mini-expansion, and related miniatures.
