Olivia Breen named Team Wales captain for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Double Commonwealth Games gold medallist Olivia Breen has been named captain of Team Wales for the Glasgow 2026 Games. The 29-year-old will lead a team of 115 athletes out at what will be her fourth Commonwealth Games, having previously won gold in the T38 100m at Birmingham 2022 and T38 long jump gold on the Gold Coast in 2018.

Breen described the honour as "mind blowing", saying she could not wait to see Team Wales make the country proud. She has also won two Paralympic bronze medals, at London 2012 and the delayed Tokyo Games in 2021. Team Wales' Chef de Mission Gethin Jones praised both her success and character, calling her "the perfect choice". The Games run in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August, with Welsh athletes competing across 10 sports and ranging in age from 16 to 73.
