BRET MICHAELS To Take ‘Next Several Months Off’ From Touring ‘To Heal And Get Back To 100%’ Following His Recent Surgeries

Poison singer Bret Michaels will take several months away from touring after doctors concluded he needs further recovery from recent kidney-stone surgery. The decision followed an attempted return to the stage in Georgia on 21 August, after which medical staff advised that continuing to perform could jeopardise his health.

Michaels underwent emergency surgery in July for a complicated obstructing kidney stone and received a ureteral stent, which still needs to be removed. His lifelong Type 1 diabetes increases the risk of infection and slows healing, while summer heat, humidity and touring could also affect his blood sugar management. Remaining 2026 appearances, including festival and private-event dates, are affected, with his team now looking towards a healthy return in 2027.

  • Bret Michaels is pausing touring for several months to recover.
  • Doctors intervened after his attempted post-surgery return.
  • Type 1 diabetes complicates his recovery and infection risk.
