Veteran Northern Irish broadcaster Gerry Kelly has died at his home aged 77, prompting tributes from across the television and radio industry. Kelly's presenting career spanned four decades and made him one of Northern Ireland's most recognisable and much-loved media figures, best known for hosting UTV's long-running weekly talk show.

He fronted the Kelly show on UTV from 1989 to 2005, interviewing high-profile guests including Garth Brooks, George Best and, notably, an eight-year-old Rory McIlroy. He went on to present a weekly programme on BBC Radio Ulster from 2009, and in 2022 mentored Belfast Met students on a new chat show, Tonight with Gerry Kelly, before recently delivering a further student-led series. Colleagues including UTV's Simon Clemison, BBC NI's Emma Dunseith and former co-workers Anne Hailes and Adrian Logan paid tribute, with Logan describing him as a broadcasting "colossus".
