Brookside actor who ran a network of fake modelling agencies is arrested in Spain after a year on Britain’s most wanted list

Daily Mail · 2 days ago

Barry Philip Foster, 51, a former Channel 4 actor from the long-running series Brookside, has been arrested in Spain after being one of Britain's Most Wanted. Foster was wanted to serve an eight-and-a-half-year prison sentence for running a network of fake modelling agencies and photography studios that defrauded victims, who were promised professional modelling work but received only poor-quality photographs. The arrest is significant as he was a high-profile fugitive linked to organised crime operations in the region.

Foster was apprehended in Torrevieja, south of Alicante, on Spain's Costa Blanca by the Guardia Civil during an unrelated homicide investigation. Police seized €22,000 in cash and several false identity documents from his home, and he has been additionally accused of document forgery. He is one of twelve fugitives on the UK's international Most Wanted campaign in Spain and has been transferred to custody pending an extradition hearing before the Audiencia Nacional court. Foster played the character Christian Wright in Brookside, which aired from 1982 to 2003.
