Security teams working on The Batman: Part II in Glasgow are reportedly having to sweep the film set each night for cans of Irn Bru, after locals began sneaking the Scottish soft drink into shots as unofficial product placement. The story, which spread via a video editor's social media post viewed more than 400,000 times, highlights the affection Glaswegians have for the drink and the lengths some are going to in order to get it on screen, echoing similar prop mischief during last year's Spider-Man filming in the city.

Cans have reportedly turned up in hot dog stalls and atop American-style bins used to dress the city as Gotham for the Matt Reeves-directed sequel, which stars Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis, and is due out in early 2028. Bothwell Street has been transformed with fake snow, fictional shopfronts and Gotham police vehicles for the production, a follow-up to 2022's The Batman, which grossed over $772 million (£570 million) worldwide. Irn Bru maker AG Barr responded playfully, joking that "BRUce Wayne" might need a can for his utility belt; DC Studios has not yet commented.
