## Key points

- Springsteen called on officials to protect the vote.
- The 2026 midterms include races for control of Congress.
- He urged officials to reject directives undermining fair elections.

## Summary

Bruce Springsteen urged US election officials to ensure votes in the 2026 midterm elections are securely counted, saying they have a constitutional duty to protect free and fair elections. His message matters because the contests will determine control of Congress as well as the outcome of state and local races.

In a 45-second video posted on Election Day, Springsteen said officials should reject directives that undermine voting rights and concluded, “Our vote is our voice.” He also thanked voters and encouraged support for the Oath to the Constitution project; the article notes his earlier advocacy on voting rights and his recent endorsement of Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
