Visit Films has picked up worldwide sales rights to "Bruton," a biopic directed by Vincent Grashaw about Bryan Bruton, a man who briefly escaped from a Florida prison during a ten-year sentence for an unintended crime. The deal, announced ahead of the film's premiere at the Locarno Film Festival next month, gives the fictionalised true story an international sales push at one of the industry's key festival markets.

The film stars Theo Rossi (Emily the Criminal) as Bruton, described as a "charismatic hustler" who builds a prison economy after his conviction, with a supporting cast including Aya Cash, Tammy Blanchard, Tony Hale, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Kayden Brenna Tokarski and Aaron Quick Nelson. It is produced by Demetrius Stear and Ryan J Francis, with Visit Films founder Ryan Kampe praising Rossi's performance and director Grashaw noting Bruton's story felt distinct from typical prison dramas. Locarno runs from 5 to 15 August 2026.
